When A&D decided to embark on the journey of a lifetime, they knew they wanted to make their love story truly unforgettable. And so, they set out to plan an epic adventure elopement amidst the breathtaking Swiss mountains, leaving no room for compromises.
The day began in a picturesque Swiss-style chalet A&D prepared for their extraordinary day, surrounded by the cozy charm of their chalet. It was the perfect setting for a day that would be filled with romance, adventure, and stunning views.
The first look, an intimate and emotional moment, took place in the chalet’s garden. This was a day they had dreamt of for so long, and it was finally here.
Following the first look, the couple embarked on a journey through the charming old town and their next destination was the heliport, where they would board a helicopter that whisked them away to tour the Matterhorn and then landed on the peak of a mountain, right in front of the iconic Matterhorn.
Surrounded by snow-covered peaks and the majesty of the Alps, they exchanged their vows in an intimate ceremony. It was just us, their love, and the helicopter that had carried them to this incredible location. The views were nothing short of awe-inspiring, a backdrop that made their promises to each other even more meaningful.
After the heartfelt ceremony, the helicopter set them down on another mountain peak where they embarked on a picturesque one-hour walk down to the mountain hotel where they would be staying the night. The path was adorned with breathtaking views, but D&A stumbled upon an extraordinary spot that took their breath away – an overlook with the grandiose Gornergrat glacier in the distance. It was the perfect location for a champagne and aperitif, and they savoured the moment with the glacier’s grandeur as their backdrop.
The mountain hotel, like many Swiss mountain chalets, was simple yet radiated a charming wooden warmth. D&A checked in and enjoyed a hearty meal in the rustic restaurant. Their day was far from over, though. They had a plan to make the most of their surroundings, heading down to the nearby mountain lake.
Equipped with lanterns, a picnic basket filled with delectable treats, champagne, and warm tea, they made their way to the tranquil lake. The setting was nothing short of enchanting, as the lanterns cast a warm, gentle glow, contrasting with the cool, serene waters. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated romance.
A surprise encounter awaited them, herd of mountain sheep surrounded them on their journey home for the night. D&A, filled with a sense of awe and adventure, embraced the unexpected company, feeling a unique connection to the natural world around them.
Their evening continued with a sunset picnic by the lake. They savored every bite, listened to their favorite songs playing softly in the background, and, when the time felt right, shared their first dance. It was a dance under the open sky, surrounded by the majestic Swiss Alps and Matterhorn, with the stars above and the tranquility of the lake at their feet.
We even went stargazing and took star photos in the middle of the night. Did we sleep? Not much, but who sleeps on their wedding night? After all, we can sleep when we’re old. Awake at night in the mountains is the best feeling ever.
We left the hotel at 5 so we brought the breakfast as a picnic for later. The 2d elopement day began with a quest to capture the first light of dawn, and it was pure magic! Is there anywhere where it’s better to eat than outdoors on the mountain?
But that was just the beginning. We’re all about making the most of our days, so we set off on a 5-kilometer hike to explore another three different lakes in this breathtaking region. Breakfast picnic by the second lake totally alone was the perfect start to our journey.
Nature’s serenity, the company of lovely people, and the beauty of these lakes have left me utterly awestruck. Sometimes, the best moments are those where you simply immerse yourself in the beauty of the world around you.
