A ski elopement in Zermatt with matterhorn as their altar
This ski elopement in the alps was intentionally simple and deeply personal. It wasn’t inspired by a theme or an aesthetic, but by a feeling: presence, intimacy, and respect for the place that has shaped their relationship.
Zermatt felt inevitable. Skiing in Europe has been part of their story from the very beginning, and the Matterhorn has always represented both adventure and grounding. Instead of curating a look or palette, they allowed the natural environment to lead. Snow, sky, stone, and silence became the backdrop for a day that asked nothing more than attention, fun and stillness.

Why they chose a ski elopement in zermatt
For them, a ski elopement wasn’t about doing something different for the sake of it. It was about choosing what already felt true.
Skiing has always been central to their relationship. It was one of the very first questions she asked him on their first date: “Do you ski?” She grew up skiing with her family in St. Anton, and sharing that world together, from early trips to years of skiing across Europe, became one of the foundations of their life together.
Zermatt was a place they kept returning to. A place filled with memory, movement and meaning. Getting married there felt less like a decision and more like a continuation of the life they were already building.
An intimate wedding ceremony in front of Matterhorn
Their elopement ceremony took place in front of the Matterhorn, with no guest, no décor, and no performance.
There were no cultural or religious traditions woven in. Instead, the ceremony centered entirely on their vows, spoken privately and without interruption. They stood together for nearly forty minutes, unaware of time passing, fully absorbed in the gravity of the moment and the magnitude of the nature they were in.
They weren’t trying to create a moment. They were simply present in one.
A ski elopement day without a schedule
The day unfolded the way they naturally move through paces they love -without urgency or spectacle.
They began with a quiet walk through old town Zermatt, easing into the day slowly. From there the experience flowed through movement rather than staging: an intimate ceremony, skiing together and a helicopter ascent into the mountains. They spent time at Iglu-Dorf, passed the Champagne bar and lingered at Hotel Cervo over a Negroni, There was no pressure, just focus on presence and joy.

Why a ski elopements felt so right
For them, a ski elopement wasn’t about opting out. It was about opting in.
By removing the pressure to perform, what remained was intimacy, clarity and meaning. Designing the day for themselves allowed them to experience their wedding rather than manage it.
Ski elopements offer couple the space to move, to feel, and to honour the places that already matter most.

Ending the day with a helicopter flight around Matterhorn
They ended their elopement day with a helicopter flight around the Matterhorn and celebrating with champagne on their own private mountain spot.

Ski elopement wedding outfit
The bride drew inspiration from Tony Kelly photography, classic James Bond alpine moments, and understated mountain glamour. Faux fur, oversized Chanel sunglasses, and diamonds she had collected over the years to mark professional milestones all felt personal rather than ceremonial.
She chose two simple dresses from Lulus, each around $100, selected for ease of movement rather than preciousness. Her ski socks and boots doubled as her shoes and her something blue.
Brent’s look was entirely his own. He skied down the mountain in a custom tuxedo paired with disco ball helmets — playful, expressive, and joyful. Together, their looks mirrored the day itself: polished yet relaxed, expressive without excess, and designed to move through the mountains rather than pose within them.
Warm base layers, ski gloves, and functional gear mattered just as much as style, making it possible to fully experience the day rather than just dress for it.

KIND WORDS fROM THE COUPLE

We were incredibly fortunate to work with Wild Souls United as both our elopement planner and photographer. She is a true Zermatt expert and helped curate a day that felt effortless, intentional, and deeply personal.
Beyond her vision and guidance, she was fearless. skiing backward, swapping lenses mid-run, and capturing moments with an instinct and precision that still amazes us.
The images she created are ones we will cherish forever, not just for how they look, but for how truthfully they reflect the day. Her work and her perspective on choosing to elope is as thoughtful as it is inspiring.
